B36 Torshavn Preview
Founded in 1936 in the Faroe Islands and based in its capital with the same name, B36 Torshavn is the island nation’s number one contenders but pale in comparison with internation achievement against the Irish Linfield FC. Nevertheless, both sides drew to zero goals last July 3.
Linfield failed to break down the determined B36 Torshavn who has their goalkeeper, MeinhardtJoensen, to thank for saving Peter Thompson’s powerfully struck penalty as the first half drew to a close, and then denying Mark McAllister with an equally good stop as full-time approached. Torshavnwere using every trick in the book to waste time and this angered the Irish fans by going down easily and dallying over their kick-outs. They looked quite relentless on the break, Jakup Borg did well to get his cross in on 23 minutes however, Lukasz Cieslewicz couldn’t quite get over the ball and his header flew harmlessly wide.
Linfield FC Preview
Linfield have only played two friendlies since returning from their summer break, and it showed as there was a lack of intensity in their play last July 3rd and the team from the Faroe Island took advantage of this without really troubling the goalkeeper. But the Irish team dominated the rest of the half with Daryl Fordyce forcing Joensen to save his rising shot, and you felt it was only a matter of time before the deadlock would be broken.
However, much to Linfield and the fans’ dismay, Torshavn held off the Irish attack quite effectively and no goals were made.
B36 Torshavn vs Linfield FC Predictions: Draw 2-2
Both teams demonstrated an equal amount of talent in defense during the first leg match. It is difficult to predict the winner of the up-coming second leg this Tuesday as it was for the previous game. We will just have to wait and see on July 10.
